Description: This product presents 2021 Census of Population characteristic data for nine separate profiles of interest, including: age; ethnic origin; first official language; immigration; income distribution by income source; mother tongue; poverty, COVID-19 benefits and high income; religion; and visible minority. Data are available for various levels of geography, including Canada, provinces and territories, census metropolitan areas, and communities with a 2021 population of 10,000 or greater.

Description: This Hierarchical File, 2021 Census Public Use Microdata File (PUMF) product provides access to non-aggregated data covering a sample of 1% of the Canadian households. It is a comprehensive social, demographic and economic database about Canada and its people, and contains a wealth of characteristics on the population.

Description: This product offers a visual overview of interprovincial migration by language group in Canada from 1976 to 2021. The language variables showcased in this product are the first official language spoken and mother tongue. It provides information on the number and rate of in-migrants, out-migrants and the net migration of each province and territory from 1976 to 2021. Data can be filtered by province or territory, language variable, language group, and group of migrants.

Description: Focusing on a selected geographic area, this product presents data highlights for each of the major releases of the 2021 Census. These data highlights are presented through text, tables and figures. A map image of the geographic area is also included in the product. The geographic levels presented in this product include Canada, provinces and territories, census metropolitan areas, census agglomerations, census divisions and census subdivisions.

Description: The 2021 Census Individuals File PUMF represents a sample of the Canadian population and provides access to individual records which have been anonymized. It is a comprehensive social, demographic and economic database about Canada and its people and includes a wealth of information on population characteristics.

Description: This infographic analyzes three different Canadian-born Black populations: those with at least one parent born in Africa, those with at least one parent born in the Caribbean, and those with both parents born in Canada. It looks at how educational attainment differs between the three different Canadian-born Black populations, and how education along with other factors contributes to earnings differences between the different Black populations and between Black and non-Indigenous non-racialized populations.

Description: This product presents information from the Census of Population focusing on the Indigenous identity population and Indigenous households of various geographic areas. These geographic areas include: Canada, provinces and territories, census metropolitan areas and census agglomerations, census divisions, census subdivisions, Métis settlements, Inuit regions, and First Nation or Indian band and Tribal Council areas. Data are available for the Indigenous identity population by age groups and gender for selected socio-demographic characteristics.

Description: Highlight tables provide information highlights by topic via key indicators for various levels of geography. The tables allow users to perform simple rank and sort functions.

Interactive dashboard: 98-507-X2021001

Description: The Census Program Data Viewer (CPDV) is an advanced web-based data visualization tool that will make statistical information more interpretable by presenting key indicators in a statistical dashboard. The CPDV makes it easy to find many places in Canada, see them on a map, and get basic geographic and sociodemographic data for those places. To find a specific place of interest, you can click and zoom in on a map of Canada or you can search by place name or postal code. The CPDV then displays the appropriate thematic map showing boundaries and other features. The CPDV will also enable users to easily compare indicator values for different places and help identify relationships between indicators.

Thematic map: 92-173-X

Description: A thematic map focuses on the spatial variability of a specific distribution or theme (such as population density or average annual income) for standard geographic areas, whereas a reference map focuses on the location and names of geographic features. Thematic maps normally include some location or reference information to help users familiarize themselves with the geographic area covered on the map.

Description: Using data from the 2021 Census of Population, this infographic shows the relative number of Indigenous people who can speak an Indigenous language well enough to conduct a conversation by language. It also shows the percent growth or decline in number of Indigenous people who can speak each Indigenous language since the 2016 Census of Population.

Description: These tables present data quality indicators for the Census of Population. Data quality indicators are available for various levels of geography, most questions on the Census of Population questionnaires and other key variables of the Census of Population.

Description: These interactive charts show the distribution of the immigrant population by selected places of birth and by various geographic regions in Canada. Two charts are presented: one is for places of birth and the second, geographic areas. Selecting the outer ring of a region expands the number of regions with corresponding distributions in the place of residence chart. Selecting a place of residence shows the distribution from the places of birth.

Description: The infographic provides a high-level description of how the Census counts people, including Indigenous people, particularly those in urban areas. This includes efforts before and during data collection including communications and advertising, reminders, follow up calls and visits, and special outreach. It also outlines the practice of counting people based on usual place of residence on Census day. Finally, the infographic discusses studies that Statistics Canada undertakes to estimate undercoverage, that is, the net impact of some people being missed and others that are being counted more than once by the Census.

The chart displays one of four housing indicators: affordability, core housing need, suitability and adequacy. The data table describes the population group's tenure status of household. Housing outcomes can be produced by making selections from the age, gender, characteristic, household type and geography dropdown menus.
