Description

This figure shows the proportion of people aged 65 and over, in percentage, in the G8 countries for 2006 and 2011. In 2011, Canada had one of the lowest proportions of people aged 65 and over among the G8 countries. The following are the values for each country, beginning with those for 2006, followed by those for 2011 (or 2010 depending on data availability): 20.8% and 23.4% in Japan, 19.2% and 20.6% in Germany, 19.7% and 20.3% in Italy, 16.4% and 16.8% in France, 16.0% and 16.5% in the United Kingdom, 13.7% and 14.8% in Canada, 12.5% and 13.0% in the United States, and 13.9% and 12.9% in Russia.
